The Underground Railroad
Founded during the Civil War, Wildwood Cemetery is deeply steeped in the preservation of freedom. Abraham Updegraff displays this as our first president and as a devoted abolitionist. Stop by our office if you’d like to visit his or others’ graves.

Local Legends
Beyond just the neat history of the lumber era, Wildwood serves as final resting place for many local heroes, legends, and notables: to name a few would be Itaro Kono, who performed in P. T. Barnum’s Circus; Peter Herdic, inventor of the taxicab’s predecessor; the Pursell family, whose unique escapable crypt brings visitors from around the country.

A Legacy of Lumber
From the wood hicks to the millionaire barons, Wildwood houses the men and women who helped build Williamsport and the great state of Pennsylvania. We have numerous tours developed featuring over a hundred of these individuals.

A Community’s History
Many visitors and patrons detail their many experiences at Wildwood– the late night flashlight walks, learning to drive stick on our hills, or enjoying the scenic views. We are blessed to act as both the resting place for so many wonderful individuals, but as a place of reflection for those still with us.
