Civil War Circle Cleaning Day
Over a dozen volunteers, new and experienced, turned out despite drizzly weather to begin the cleaning process for all 192 Civil War veterans buried in our Civil War Circle. The infantryman statue at its center, dedicated to the defenders of the republic, is coming up on 140 years since its dedication — its stone foundation holds a cornerstone time capsule with the names of local leaders and history. With over 170 acres to maintain, volunteer groups like Friends of Wildwood are essential to keeping this cemetery beautiful.
Headstone Cleaning Workshops
Our headstone-cleaning workshops have been a hit. For $25, get hands-on training and a certificate; for $75, take home a full cleaning kit with tools and cleaner. Payment is due before the workshop, in person or electronically. We’ve also provided kits and demonstrations for volunteer days cleaning the Civil War Circle.
Spring Cleanup
Each spring, we ask that any decorations you’d like to keep be removed from the gravesite or placed by the end of the month before Easter. Anything deteriorating, faded, or broken gets removed to help beautify the cemetery. Our cleaning season for headstones typically runs through April — contact our office for a free quote.
A Safety Reminder
Thanks to the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company for their help putting out a brush fire on our grounds. Please help keep the cemetery safe by avoiding smoking near dry leaves or dead wood, and always clean up after yourself.
